A few weeks after the compact electric delivery van E-Transit Courier, Ford has now also presented its passenger car version E-Tourneo Courier.

The battery-electric five-seater with a length of just under 4.40 meters and an “SUV-inspired design” is intended to score with a generous amount of space for passengers and luggage space.

With an output of 100 kW, the drive system is the same as that of the E-Transit Courier. The specifications for charging power are also identical: The battery capacity was not revealed in the announcement, however charging can be done via AC with up to 11 kW and on DC charging stations with up to 100 kW capacity.

Ford does reveal that a “typical overnight AC charge from 10-100 per cent takes 5.7 hours”.

At a DC fast charger, customers can add 87 km range in about 10 minutes, and charge from 10-80 per cent in under 35 minutes.

Similarly to the E-Transit Courier, the E-Tourneo Courier is not scheduled for market launch until the end of 2024 and will be manufactured in Craiova, Romania, from the second half of 2024 alongside the Puma crossover, which is also set to be offered with an EV variant by 2024.

Ford is relying on the vehicle to help launch the new Ford electric direction as Martin Sander, general manager, Ford Model e, Europe says: “Exciting new products like E‑Tourneo Courier are the future of Ford in Europe – electric, fun, and fuelled by a restless need for adventure. Our new all-electric multi-activity vehicle is the latest demonstration of our multi-billion dollar global push to scale EV production and deliver connected, must-have vehicles for our customers.”

Ford had restructured its vehicle business into three different units in March, with Model e being responsible for electric vehicles. The US American company also expects ramp-up costs for the electric vehicle business to extend into billion-dollar sums, but also that it will be profitable in 2024.
