Being the best option of clean energy today applied to transport, a project of resolution was submitted before the Senate of the Republic, with the proposal of replacement of state vehicle floats by electric units.
The proposal states the electric vehicles don´t produce neither greenhouse gases nor noise pollution, and also have much higher performance than those ones of fossil combustion. With the personal use of electric vehicles, President Luis Abinader, shows his vision for sustainable development.
The motion submitted by Senator Franklin Rodríguez Garabito states that public centralized and decentralized institutions bear the appropriate conditions of infrastructure for the installation of charging stations.
“The conversion of state vehicle floats into electric units should represent a considerable cost reduction due to fuel charge, which means an important saving for the State”, the project states in one of its recitals.
Furthermore, it also mentions that with this measure, Government would place Dominican Restate ahead in the fight against climate change, since it should be among the Latin American nations with more innovative actions in favour of clean energies.
The project requires Presidency to order the General Direction of State Works to submit a regulatory mechanism to guarantee the control of the assessment process and sale of state units to be replaced, through an electronic portal.
It also demands for the installation of charging stations of electric energy, with solar panels, to be placed at the parking places of the different public centralized and decentralized institutions, for proper supply. It proposes to extend the disposition to the units of the Bus Services Metropolitan Office, in order to contribute with the implementation of transport means ecologically sustainable.
“Request to Presidency of the Republic the implementation of a governmental plan for greenhouse gases reduction, through replacement of state vehicle floats of public centralized and decentralized institutions by electric vehicles”, states the initiative sent to be analysed to the Commission of State Works and Communications.
