Italien charging infrastructure provider Be Charge has secured more than €100 million in funding. The money will be used to set up HPC chargers in eight European countries by 2025 – specifically in Italy, Spain, France, Austria, Germany, Portugal, Slovenia, and Greece.

Be Charge will install over 2,000 fast-chargers in the coming two years. Each will have a minimum power of 150 kW and be installed along the European transport corridors in the eight European countries mentioned above.

The money comes from the European Commission and the Italian credit institution Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP). Both parties gave €50 million each.

With our Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Facility, we want to support the fast roll-out of recharging infrastructure”, says European Commissioner for Transport Adina Vălean. “Such a large network will further reassure consumers, encourage them to charge their cars across the EU and thus promote electro-mobility”.

Italien oil company Eni acquired Be Charge’s parent company, Be Power, in 2021. Be Charge was Italy’s second largest charge point operator at the time. And Eni is also a partner of Ionity.

In 2018, both sides signed a framework agreement to install HPC charging stations from Ionity at Eni service stations. At the time, 30 HPC sites were planned, each with six fast chargers in Italy.
